Company Profile
The Cantine del Cardinale were born about 15 years ago, in a small village in the hills of the Marche region, Serra de' Conti. In reality the Visciolata del Cardinale was born much earlier, from the intuition of a man, Giovanni Cardinali, who dusting off ancient family heirlooms, he recovered among the various paperwork an ancient recipe from one of his ancestor, dating back to the mid-nineteenth century. The recipe spoke of this "Visciole wine", a typical Marche wine known to Giovanni as well as to most of the farmers of the Marche. The production method and all processing however, they were very different from the typical Pergolese recipe. This man, already the grandfather of six grandchildren, with the curiosity of a child began to try to reproduce this ancient recipe and to offer his "Visciolata" to relatives and friends. It was they, the regulars at Casa Cardinali, who "baptized" this specialty as Visciolata del Cardinale. And how, from the farmer who produces his wine at home, did we arrive at "Le Cantine del Cardinale"? Giovanni had Amalia at his side, his wife and mother of his three children: Giselle, Luca and Cristiano. It was them, three grown-up children, each with their own family and with different working situations, who thought they could transform their father's "hobby" into a real job. Hence the dream: to be able to create a company in which the sour cherries would be the protagonists of every product. The dream had a name: “The Cardinal's Cellars”. A family-run business, in which Giannì, as Giovanni was called, Giselle Luca and Cristiano they decided to believe from the first moment. Shortly thereafter numerous "Visciolati" products were born. Luca, a volcano of ideas with a creative nature, not yes he never tired of experimenting with new uses of this ancient fruit, maintaining tradition and craftsmanship in each new creation, fundamental values of Giannì's philosophy. Today, like 15 years ago, Luca and Giselle realize their dream every day, with those values handed down by Giannì and Amalia, acting as spokespersons for them with their children Elisa, Lorenzo, Arianna, Nadine, Michele and Matteo, and the new arrival Marco. Le Cantine del Cardinale is today an established and recognized company in the Marche and national territory, as well as in some European regions and around the world. Giannì's hobby, his children's dream, is now reality.
