Company Profile
Tommaso Sturmo and Luciano Costantini are the founding members of the Costantini Slow agricultural company, which aims to produce and consume high-quality products by promoting an ancient breed of pig typical of Abruzzo, known as the Abruzzo Black Pig.
Courage, foresight, enthusiasm, and a touch of recklessness: these are the essential ingredients for any business that seeks new solutions while always maintaining the wisdom of the past!
The farm is located in Mosciano Sant'Angelo (TE) at an altitude of 227 meters on the northern slope of the Tordino Valley. It covers 9 hectares, 3 of which are dedicated to pasture, characterized by a dense stand of oaks and holm oaks that, in addition to providing food for the pigs, provide shelter during the summer heat.
It is a semi-wild farm, with simple and well-organized structures and management to avoid overtraining and stressing the animals, who are free to roam in large spaces.
Maximum attention is paid to protecting the soil for grazing through crop rotation and providing a wholesome diet specifically designed with local ingredients. Furthermore, unlike many other farmers, Tommaso and Luciano have chosen to use low-capacity feeders to ensure constant monitoring of the animals' cleanliness and health.
We are part of the consortium of breeders for the protection of the Abruzzo black pig, which controls and certifies the origin of our meat and cured meats, a necessary and fundamental tool for reducing food fraud.
Our pigs are certified by the ANAS (National Agency for the Protection of the Agricultural, Food and Forestry) organization. Each pig has an ear tag that allows for identification at every stage of its life.
From these pigs, we obtain high-quality cured meats in our brand-new salumific.
