Company Profile
Created in the summer of 2020 by brothers Marco and Alessandro Riggi, third generation Sicilian millers and owners of the mill of the same name, Granamaro is the first liqueur in history made from wheat.
The heir of an important tradition, boasting over seventy years of experience, Granamaro contains the essence of what is most authentic about Sicily. It is a precious distillate, enriched with ten secret ingredients, offering anyone who drinks it a unique experience.
The essence of a beautiful land, Sicily, contained in a beautiful bottle. From the masterful encounter between Sicilian wheat, medicinal herbs, and orange extract comes a liqueur whose name celebrates the glorious Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and the Grana, the antique coin minted during the Bourbon dynasty.
The distillate has a dark red color which, with each sip, offers a complex journey of flavor: first the vinous hints of the wheat infusion, then fresh citrus notes from the bitter orange extract and, finally, the pleasant bitter sensation of herbs, including artemisia, gentian root, and rhubarb: carefully selected ingredients that give life to a liqueur that has already made history.
Granamaro comes from a mix of Sicilian wheats, blended with skill and left to infuse in alcohol for a month, a preliminary processing that gives life to a cereal-based aqua vitae of a strong and decisive character.
The infusion is subsequently enhanced by an aromatization process which involves the addition of two components:
> Citrus notes
Bitter orange and orange blossom flowers give a freshness to the sip and a balance to the aromas, giving the palate a harmonious opening that softens the strength of the grains.
> Bitter notes
Artemisia, gentian root, rhubarb and other secret ingredients leave bitter yet tonic notes in the mouth, which provide harmony to the product.
