At the Fëdor Bistro, where caviar feels very much at home, the event “A corner of Russia in Florence” offers a tasty summary of the gastronomic tradition of the Tsars. The menu starts with a tasting of Imperial Caviar from the Russian Caviar House. That’s followed by “oladyi”, the classic Russian pancakes, served with caviar and sour cream. Then there are “blinis” with salmon roe, wild salmon, smoked sturgeon and the “authentic” Olivier Russian salad. And to drink, champagne and, of course, iced Beluga vodka. A gourmet experience, but also something to recall the past. In the late 19th century, in fact, Russian aristocrats and intellectuals often came to stay in Florence: Tchaikovsky, the DemidoffsTolstoy and finally Dostoevsky, whose handwriting is reproduced on the bar counter at this bistro facing onto Palazzo Vecchio, in homage to the great writer.
