The Tavoletta d'Oro (Golden Tablet) awards ceremony for the best Italian chocolates, hosted by Compagnia del Cioccolato, will take place on February 5 at 12 noon in the beautiful setting of TASTE, at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Compagnia del Cioccolato's Facebook page.

The Tavolette d'Oro, known as the "Oscars of chocolate," are Itsly’s most prestigious awards for quality chocolate. The judgments are based on evaluation forms created by Compagnia del Cioccolato. The association has been active for over 25 years and has more than 1,000 members, including chocolate lovers, professional tasters, industry journalists, and gourmets. The organization aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the chocolates available in Italy and guidance for its members and all consumers through these awards.

The chocolates that have made it to the final round have scored above 85 points and are considered the epitome of Italian chocolate. The judgments are given by committees of Compagnia's expert tasters. More than 1,200 bars of chocolate and other chocolate products, including truffles, cremini, gianduiotti, spreads, candied and fruit covered, pralines, etc. were tasted.

Awards will be given to the following categories: milk and high-cocoa milk, gianduia, dark and origins, flavored and spiced chocolates, pralines, coated fruits, spreads, cremini, raw chocolates, and the Specialty Tablets (emerging chocolatier, international chocolatier, cocoa mass, Special Awards).

Among the finalists this year are well-known Italian chocolate brands such as Domori, Amedei, Slitti, Gobino, Maglio, Sabadì, Majani, Ta Milano, Gardini, Colzani/Amaro, Venchi, and Manufatto Cacao, Castagna, Giraudi, Bonajuto, Ciokkarua, Strighetto, Dolciaria Marche, Varvaro, Bernardi, Villa & Stacchezzini, La Perla, and many more. Additionally, the International Prize, in collaboration with Leonardi Dolciumi, will be awarded to a small Colombian producer, Somos Cacao, for their Sur del lago and El Porvenir origins.

At TASTE, the finalists in each category will be presented, and at the Final Awards Ceremony the Golden Tablets for the year 2023 and the "Chocolates of Excellence" qualification will be awarded to the remaining chocolate finalists. There will also be a special focus on "spreadable creams" and an award for communication effectiveness by Spaghetti & Mandolino and Gruppo Volta in collaboration with the Compagnia.
