Company Profile
Frantoio Franci was born in 1958 in Montenero d'Orcia in Tuscany, when the brothers Franco and Fernando Franci purchased a historic olive grove called Villa Magra and renovated an old barn to make it an oil mill.
Initially the work was based on the direct sale of bulk extra virgin olive oil and on its own milling and on behalf of third parties, with customers mainly coming from Siena and Grosseto.
In 1995, Giorgio Franci, Fernando's son, joined the family business, and this collaboration between father and son was the starting point for the evolution of the Frantoio into a world leading company in the extra virgin olive oil sector. In fact, an active search for customers outside the Tuscan area began, reaching international markets. This dynamism means that the company grows from year to year with stability and consistency, today Franci oils can be found in over 40 countries in the world.
Work in the oil mill is varied and closely linked to company ethics, mainly oriented towards Quality. Among the many commitments, the pressing, from October to December, is the period of maximum activity.
Frantoio Franci's production is structured into different product ranges. The local olives produce the PGI and Tuscan Organic certified oils, the fine monocultivar Crus and the selected products. We also process Italian olives, purchased from accredited historical suppliers, necessary for the production of base oils. To date, the possibility of milling for third parties is still active.
The sine qua non for a good result during the pressing is obviously the care of the countryside: the family olive groves extend for around 120 hectares and a further expansion is expected in the coming years.
Another important activity consists of tastings and guided tours, fundamental for the valorisation of the products and the territory, the Frantoio has in fact become a real tourist destination for lovers of gastronomic travel. It is also a point of reference as a cultural and emotional experience for relais and 5-star hotels in the area who direct their guests to the structure. The panoramic terrace is extraordinary, from which you can admire three iconic landscapes of Tuscany: Monte Amiata, Maremma and Val d'Orcia.
For the more curious, the "Oil School" is proposed, to promote and spread the culture linked to quality extra virgin olive oil and for this reason the oil mill collaborates with educational institutions from all over the world. Frantoio Franci is today a world leader in the production of quality extra virgin olive oil with over 640 prestigious national and international awards, among the most important in 2019 we have the double recognition of "Company of the Year" in the Flos Olei guide by Marco Oreggia and in the Gambero guide Red. In 2020, however, continuity in offering excellence consistently over the years was rewarded and thus the Gambero Rosso Star arrived, then confirmed in 2022 (for having obtained Le Tre Foglie, the maximum score, for 10 consecutive years) and the Glass Red by Flos Olei, which symbolizes entry into the Hall of Fame, an exclusive category intended for only 6 producers in the world, a result also reconfirmed in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Among the records, Frantoio Franci is:
• The only company in the world to have received 6 Golden Lions
• The only company in the world to have been in the Flos Olei Top 20 18 times
• The only Tuscan company to have the Gambero Rosso Star
• The only Tuscan company to have entered the Flos Olei Hall Of Fame, with a score of 100/100, for three consecutive years.
