Company Profile
Rinci is an artisanal company, based in the heart of Parco del Conero, Marche, Italy. Francesco, Luca and Alessandro are the young Rinci owners, which have made the Paccasassi, a spontaneous plant, cultivable. They have done it inside the Natural Park where this same plant is protected. Furthermore, thanks to the cultivation, Rinci protects the biodiversity of the Riviera. The Paccasassi del Conero are among the Arca del Gusto products of the Slow Food Foundation.
They are very tasty and rich in vitamin C, which is why Mediterranean and North European sailors used it as an anti-scurvy since the late nineteenth century. They were so popular that even Shakespeare in his King Lear and Melville in Moby Dick mention it. It began to disappear due to its indiscriminate harvesting and for this reason, even today, in the Conero Regional Park and in some areas of Italy and Europe, sea fennel is listed among the protected plant species.
