Company Profile
Tradition, quality, and love for a timeless product: these are the values that have always inspired and guided the Valserena Agricultural Company, whose history has been linked to the Serra family in Gainago since 1879 (we are the oldest Parmigiano Reggiano dairy still in operation).
Since then, Valserena has been exclusively dedicated to breeding Brown Swiss cows, whose prized milk is transformed into the cheese known as Valserena "Sola Bruna" Parmigiano Reggiano.
It is the dairy with the oldest documented history in the entire production area: when the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium was founded in 1925, the company had already been producing this special type of cheese for several decades.
In 2005, the "Consorzio Disolabruna®" was established to promote products obtained from the milk of this breed, which is rich in calcium and phosphorus and characterized by a uniquely exquisite flavor and quality.
Since June 2016, the company's products have also been certified "NO GMO." This guarantees our consumers that the animals' feed comes exclusively from crops grown on the farm or purchased from suppliers committed to non-genetically modified products.
Today, the Valserena Agricultural Company produces 16 wheels of cheese per day, obtained from the milk of its own cows, born and raised on the farm, and fed with fodder and cereals cultivated on the 430 hectares of company land.
