Meat Japan is the Italian and European subsidiary of Kyoto's historic butcher shop Ginkakuji Onishi, which has specialized in the selection of the highest quality Japanese Wagyu since 1953. Based in Saronno, Italy, we are involved in breeding, direct import and distribution of Wagyu meat in Europe through retail, wholesale, Horeca and GDO channels.
Using our experience, we breed, slaughter and select sustainably raised Japanese cattle, importing all available cuts down to the entire half-calf. We focus on selecting the highest quality wagyu, from the popular Ginkakuji Onishi Wagyu A5 to the extremely rare old cow wagyu Juku, preferring human relationships with historic and specialized breeders from Japan's best prefectures.
We also offer a unique line of cured products - bresaola, guanciale, lardo and salami - that combine Italian techniques with Japanese flavors. Our retail line of frozen products includes Wagyu burgers, yakitori skewers and portioned steak cuts to reduce waste.
We also focus on educating our customers on how to select, handle, preserve, process, serve, and sell the best Japanese Wagyu through customized advisory services, Wagyu Masterclasses hosted throughout Europe, and our annual trips to Japan, which allow our customers to learn firsthand about Japanese breeding and slaughtering traditions.
