La Castagna Leopoldina is a farm nestled on the slopes of Mount Amiata, where we grow and transform prized Florentine marroni chestnuts, bringing them to the table all year round through artisanal products, made without added preservatives and entirely within our own supply chain, with respect for nature.

Our story began in the 1970s, when Mario Gioacchini planted the first chestnut grove and founded the farm “La Castagna”. For the Gioacchini family, planting chestnut trees became a true philosophy of life: an act of care, patience and trust in the future.

In 2014, his daughter Francesca left her career as a pharmacist in Rome and returned home to become an agricultural entrepreneur. She planted hundreds of new chestnut trees and invested in a complete processing line for fresh produce, designed to preserve the natural qualities of the fruit from the moment it is harvested.

The farm continued to grow. A laboratory dedicated to chestnut processing was created, a space for visitors was opened, and the name became La Castagna Leopoldina — a tribute to Leopoldo Pietro, Grand Duke of Tuscany, and to the agricultural heritage of the region.

In 2019, the range of products expanded with the introduction of new machinery and new creations: marron glacés, chestnut creams, chestnuts in syrup, chestnut flour and chestnut honey. The chestnut grove also became a place for encounters, through collaborations and events celebrating the food and cultural heritage of the area.

Every step has grown from listening to nature and seeking out the best expertise, while remaining rooted in the values of rural life and its natural rhythms. The countryside has taught us not to rush, but to observe and wait. From this awareness comes a carefully selected production, shaped by quality and care.

Today, the chestnut grove has become the multifunctional space we always imagined: a place where visitors can immerse themselves in an authentic, almost fairytale-like world, populated by the characters that tell its story and that you can discover throughout our signature pattern.
